Yo Yo Honey Singh's wife accuses rapper of ‘domestic violence,’ files case against him

Prominent rapper and music composer Yo Yo Honey Singh has landed in trouble after his wife Shalini Talwar accused him of domestic violence and casual sex with multiple women on Tuesday.

Rapper’s wife has filed a case of domestic violence against him at the Tis Hazari courts, said reports.

The complaint filed by Shalini runs into 118 pages, in which she alleged that she was ‘subjected to numerous incidents of physical abuse, verbal, mental abuse and emotional abuse,’ at the hands of Hirdesh Singh aka Honey Singh, his parents and his younger sister.

Divulging details of unsuccessful relationship, Shalini stated the differences between the two that emerged right from their honeymoon after they tied knot of wedding on January 23, 2011. His wife further alleged that whenever she tried to confront Honey Singh for being distant from her, he would hit her.   

In her petition filed at courts, Shalini has further accused the rapper of alcoholism and adultery.

“He had casual sex with multiple women and would not take her on his singing tours,” said Shalini in her complaint. Furthermore, Honey Singh also stopped wearing his wedding ring saying it was not good luck for him to be wearing diamonds.

Taking cognizance of the complaint, which runs into 118 pages, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tania Singh issued a notice to Honey Singh to appear before her on August 28.

The magistrate also passed interim orders restraining the rapper from disposing off property that he jointly owned with his wife as well as her 'Streedhan'.

The case has been filed under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act.

Initially notorious for promoting misogyny and drug abuse in his Punjabi rap numbers, Honey Singh, who grew up and lives in Delhi, is now better known for his work in mainstream films such as 'Chennai Express' and 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety'.
