An incident bringing up shame to humanity has come to light from Bhagatpur village falling under Ghuman police station in Gurdaspur district, where a youth was severely beaten up and was stripped naked by a group of 10 men.
The assailants also recorded the video while beating up and torturing the victim in nakedness, which went viral soon after. Based on the victim's statements, the police have registered a case against 10 men and started searching for the all absconding accused.
According to the Batala Police SP Jasbir Rai, the youth who is being beaten up in the viral video is Ranjit Singh, a resident of Bhagatpur village under Ghuman police station, who was released on bail a few days back.
SP Jasbir Rai further informed that "after Ranjit has come out of jail, he used to threaten few young men of the village and of nearby areas. As a result of this, a group of 10 men grabbed Ranjit Singh, took him to some place and has beaten him up mercilessly, shot a video after stripping him naked." The accused group then posted the video on internet which went viral.
Notably, police has taken a legal action against the group based on the statements of victim Ranjit. All 10 accused are booked under Sections 341, 323, 148, 149 under IPC and Section 66 of the IT Act. Presently, all the accused are on flee and raids are being carried out by district police to nab them.
