An audio of an argument between the former Station House Officer (SHO) of Ajnala Police station under Amritsar rural and outpost in-charge Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) has gone viral. The audio contains several profanities and abusive slurs being spat by the SHO and the ASI at each other. After the audio’s viral status, the police has started a formal departmental inquiry. Ajnala DSP Raj Kumar informed that the audio is being investigated and a departmental inquiry is underway. Meanwhile, ASI Kuldeep Singh has been suspended from his duties while SHO Balbir Singh has been transferred.
The viral audio is reportedly between former SHO of Ajnala Police station Balbir Singh and Chamiari police outpost in-charge ASI Kuldeep Singh. The exchange is regarding not taking action against liquor smugglers. In the audio, Balbir Singh talks about taking action against the liquor smugglers while ASI Kuldeep Singh is adamant that the case cannot be registered with an investigation. The argument then gets heated with both the officers hurling profanities at each other by the end.
The SHO orders the ASI to register a case against the liquor smugglers citing the District Super-Intendent (DSP). The ASI refuses to register the case with pending investigation. ASI then says that he will register a case against unknown persons and give their names later while Balbir Singh refuses and asks the ASI to talk to the DSP.
The ASI loses his calm and proclaims to the SHO that he cannot talk to him like this, saying that he’s “seen 20 SHOs like you” and accused the SHO of trying to fool him. ASI then says that while the liquor has been recovered, the case can only be registered against unknown persons.
