In a major development, Punjab Police on Wednesday denied molestation or harassment of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital's doctor on September 2. On Wednesday, information was received that a Resident Doctor of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital was molested when she was going to the hostel after completing her duties. It was reported that two men came on the bike around 10 to 10:30 pm and approached the doctor & molested her. The doctor was so scared that she ran away from the spot and informed her ward's doctor & Principal of the college. The Principal of the Hospital informed the local Police and an investigation was started.
Now, Punjab Police have denied any kind of molestation or harassment took place with the doctor of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar. As per the information received, ACP Maninder Pal Singh said that a man entered the area with the intention of stealing. ACP Pal informed that the resident female doctor was going to her room after finishing her duties when a man on a motorcycle tried to rob her. A CCTV footage has also been released in which a man can be seen entering the street on his bike.
The Police also stated that reports suggesting that the doctor was molested are not correct. The case has been linked to late-night snatching. "It was a case of robbery intent, where the police have registered a case and started raids to search for the accused. Soon the accused will be arrested. At the same time, rumors are being spread on social media that the lady doctor was molested." Furthermore, ACP Pal said that the man approached the doctor intending to rob her after which the doctor ran inside the hostel in fear.
