A war of words took place in Lok Sabha on Thursday between former Punjab CM & Jalandhar MP Charanjit Singh Channi & Union Minister Ravneet Bittu. During the discussion on the budget in Parliament, Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu got angry at former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. Miffed by Channi's verbal attack in the Lok Sabha, Ravneet Bittu called him the most corrupt man in Punjab and targeted him fiercely. In Parliament, members of the ruling and opposition parties came face to face over the dispute between Bittu and Channi and there was a lot of uproar. Due to the uproar, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha had to be adjourned till 2 pm. Below is what happened between Ravneet Boittu & Charanjit Singh Channi in Lok Sabha-
Participating in a debate on a discussion on the Union Budget, Channi referred to the assassination of Bittu's grandfather, former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh. This led to a war of words between Ravneet Bittu, who recently quit Congress to join the BJP and Channi.
On Bittu's comment, Charanjit Singh Channi said that Bittu ji, your grandfather was martyred. But he did not die that day, he died the day you left the Congress. Angered by this, Bittu said that my grandfather Sardar Beant Singh sacrificed himself for the country, not for Congress.
Bittu then went on to say that Channi is talking about poverty, but he is the richest man in Punjab. Bittu went on to challenge that he would change his name if he (Channi) is not the richest and most corrupt man of Punjab.
"This Charanjit Channi is the owner of thousands of crores,' said 'angry' Bittu. Bittu asked, "Who he is calling Gora? First, he should tell where Sonia Gandhi ji is from. He is in MeToo, he is in all the cases, and he is the most corrupt." After this statement of Bittu, when Channi started speaking, the members of the ruling party started creating a ruckus. Some MPs from the Treasury Bench came to the well. MPs of the opposition also came to the well. Members of both parties came face to face in the House. After this, the proceedings of the House were adjourned by the Chair till 2 pm.
For the unversed, Ravneet Bittu is the Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries.
