A campaign is set to launch providing free ration for two months in Khargone district, Madhya Pradesh. District Collector Karmaveer Sharma, together with the District Supply Officer and Labor Department, briefed officials about the campaign through a presentation. The Collector emphasized the need to complete the campaign within the stipulated timeframe. This initiative aligns with the National Food Security Act 2013, which mandates issuing ration cards (eligibility slips) to eligible unorganized and migrant workers nationwide within the next two months.
Eligibility and Ration Distribution
According to e-Shramik portal data, 49,478 families in the district need to be identified through a survey, and a separate list of ineligible families must be prepared. This list includes families who have been issued slips, those who are eligible but have not received a slip, and those requiring documentation verification from the local Panchayat or Urban Body via the M Ration Mitra Portal. Eligible families will receive ration through these eligibility slips.
Campaign Nodal Officers
In rural areas, verification will be conducted by the Gram Panchayat’s employment assistant or mobilizer, alongside the Anganwadi worker. In urban areas, ward-level survey teams, including the ward in-charge and Anganwadi worker, will carry out the survey. The Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue) will oversee the entire campaign, with the Chief Executive Officer/Chief Municipal Officer acting as the nodal officer in development blocks and urban areas. The Labor Inspector and Junior Supply Officer will serve as assistant nodal officers in both urban and rural areas.
