Actor Sonu Sood created a stir on social media after standing up for a food vendor who was seen on camera spitting on a customer's food. Well-known for his selfless actions, Sood encountered criticism when he likened the deed to Lord Ram eating Shabris berries. The man said, If Lord Ram could eat Shabris berries, why can't I eat rotis that have been spat upon? portraying spitting as a humane act. Humanity must remain intact."

Kangana Ranaut joins the criticism.

Kangana Ranaut, an actress and politician, has criticized Sood's remarks, questioning his judgment. On X (formerly Twitter), she posted, "Next, you know, Sonu ji will direct his own Ramayana based on his findings about God and religion. Wah kya baat hai Bollywood se ek aur Ramayana,” mocking his defense and highlighting the disconnect between his actions and revered religious figures.

Social media reacts strongly.

The controversy intensified when a user shared a video of a boy spitting on dough while preparing rotis. The video was a reaction to Sood's defense of the vendor, which many found offensive. Reactions to Sood’s comments have been overwhelmingly negative. One user remarked, “Itna bhi defend maat karo, galat ko bhi sahi proof karne mein lage ho” (Don’t defend something so much that you end up sounding wrong). Another critic criticized Sood for comparing the vendor’s act to Shabari’s berries, stating that the act was driven by malice rather than devotion.

Upcoming Projects

Despite the backlash, Sood is set to appear in the cyber crime thriller *Fateh*, alongside Jacqueline Fernandez and Naseeruddin Shah, directed by Abhinandan Gupta and produced by Zee Studios. The film is scheduled for release later this year.

Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut is gearing up for the release of her film *Emergency*, in which she plays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film, produced by Renu Pitti and Kangana, is set to release on September 7 and is backed by Zee Studios.
