In a bizarre development, multiple rounds of firing were carried out at India's comedy king Kapil Sharma's newly opened restaurant in Canada. The incident, caught on camera, showcased a man open-firing at Kapil Sharma's Kap’s Café. After the firing, Khalistani terrorist Harjit Singh Laddi took responsibility for the shooting.
Now, the question arises, who is Harjit Singh Laddi, and why did he attack Kapil Sharma's restaurant? Below is all you need to know-
Who is Harjit Singh Laddi?
As per NIA, Harjit Singh Laddi is an active member of a Khalistani terror module, allegedly linked to Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), a proscribed organisation.
Laddi is a resident of Gharpadhana village in Nawanshahr district of Punjab. He has been declared a fugitive terrorist by the NIA, which has announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for information leading to his arrest. Investigators claim he maintains direct links with foreign-based Khalistani handlers and terror financiers.
Laddi's name also surfaced in connection with the 2024 murder of Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Vikas Bagga. The case was handed over to the NIA, which uncovered a conspiracy involving Laddi, Kulbir Singh alias Sidhu, and other associates. The agency believes Laddi played an instrumental role in orchestrating the killing.
Why did Harjti Laddi attack Kap’s Café in Surrey, BC?
Harjit Singh alias Laddi's unverified social media post claimed that the firing took place in protest against the comedian's purported comments on Nihang Singhs.
Laddi, along with another individual named Toofan Singh, shared a social media post in which they warned Kapil Sharma to issue a public apology, saying failure to do so could escalate the situation further.
The duo also alleged that they tried multiple times to contact Kapil Sharma’s manager, but received no response. They claimed the firing was intended to “grab the comedian’s attention” after being ignored.
While it remains unclear what exact remarks Kapil Sharma allegedly made about Nihang Singhs, some reports speculate the controversy might be tied to an old Netflix episode or a live show.
