In a major development, the Department of Home Affairs under the Government of Punjab on Monday appointed IPS Officer G Nageswar Rao as the new Chief Director of Vigilance Bureau. G Nageswar Rao IPS has replaced Varinder Kumar who acted as Punjab Vigilance Bureau Chief before him. Varinder Kumar has been relieved from the Punjab Vigilance Bureau Chief Director Post and has been asked to report to the Director General of Police's office. Varinder Kumar's retirement is due in July 2025.
Talking about the new Punjab Vigilance Bureau Chief Director- G Nageswar Rao is a 1995 IPS officer of the Punjab Cadre. Previously, G Nageswar Rao IPS has served as ADGP in the Cyber Crime Cell of Punjab Police, and also ADGP in Human Rights Punjab.
