Punjab Weather Update: Orange Alert in THESE districts, slight decrease in temperature expected says IMD

In some relief from the scorching and stinging heat in Punjab, the temperatures were found to have dropped by an average of 1.4 °C. Bathinda's temperature was once again the hottest on Thursday. But there too there was a decrease of 1.2 °C in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department of India (IMD) has issued orange alert instead of red for Punjab.

The cause of this ever so slight decrease in temperature is believed to be activity of the Western Disturbance in Punjab, accord to the Met Department. There was no rain, but there was a slight drop in the temperature. On Friday, the temperature in Punjab is expected to be 45 °C or slightly less.

Orange alert issued for 15 districts

According to the Meteorological Department, orange alert has been issued in 15 districts of Punjab:

  • Pathankot
  • Gurdaspur
  • Amritsar
  • Tarn Taran
  • Firozpur
  • Fazilka
  • Muktsar
  • Faridkot
  • Moga
  • Jalandhar
  • Kapurthala
  • Bathinda
  • Barnala
  • Mansa
  • Sangrur

 The temperature here is expected to be around or below 45 °C.

At the same time, yellow alert has been issued in other districts including Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Ludhiana, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Mohali and Patiala.
