Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed strong discontent in Parliament on Monday following allegations by opposition leader Rahul Gandhi regarding the government's handling of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers. Gandhi claimed that farmers are demanding MSP but are not receiving it, prompting a heated response from Chouhan.

Rahul Gandhi was asked to provide evidence by Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who claimed that the government was really buying crops at MSP rates. He emphasized that the MSP rates for 14 Kharif crops had been set by the government, and he challenged Rahul Gandhi to reveal the number of crops that received MSP support during his party's rule, stressing that no purchases had been made at that time.
"Rahul Gandhi is trying to mislead the Parliament on MSP, and he is presenting the wrong facts. The Modi government is already giving MSP to farmers," Chouhan stated.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan insisted on the false claims of the government's MSP policy and demanded verification of Rahul Gandhi's statements, accusing him of spreading lies.

In his rebuttal, Rahul Gandhi demanded a legal guarantee for MSP, arguing that mere promises are insufficient. He accused the government of fostering fear among farmers and insecurity among women due to inflation.

This confrontation marked Shivraj Singh Chouhan's first session as a cabinet minister at the center.
Rahul Gandhi, the opposition leader, harshly attacked the PM Modi government on a number of fronts, including the Agniveer scheme and farmer issues, during the Lok Sabha motion of thanks on the President's address, which led to the altercation. Rahul Gandhi's criticisms were swiftly met with equal vigor by Home Minister Amit Shah.
