The temperature across Punjab has taken a sudden turn and mercury has dipped a bit. Certain regions of Punjab have recently witnessed rainfall following sudden winds and thunderstorms.
At around 5:30 pm, the regions of Punjab went dark and following this heavy rain started to fall, along with heavy storms. The cities which witnessed this change in the weather were Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali, Ropar, Hoshiarpur and Nawanshahr.
Along with this, some regions of Punjab, Nangal and Pathankot, also witnessed heavy rain, accompanied with hail storms and strong winds. Along with these, Jalandhar also witnessed strong winds.
Notably, this change in weather came after the regions faced intense and severe heat.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, a yellow alert was issued for dust storms and thunderstorms along with rain and lightning. The places which faced the alert are Amritsar, Barnala, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Mohali, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Moga, Mansa, Bathinda, Muktsar and Fazilka districts.
Besides this, the Tricity - Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali - also witnessed an alert for strong winds at the speed of 50 to 60 kilometers.
