A massive controversy erupted on Monday after AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal called the Delhi Police's PCR and sought help saying that she had been assaulted at Arvind Kejriwal's residence. On Monday, Delhi Police confirmed that they received two distress calls from Swati Maliwal, however, she did not file any FIR. It was revealed that Swati Maliwal was manhandled by Arvind Kejriwal's PA Baibhav Kumar. Baibhav Kumar reportedly did not let Swati meet Arvind Kejriwal. Now, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday confirmed Swati Malliwal's allegations.
AAP leader Sanjay Singh during a press conference said, "Yesterday, a condemnable incident took place. Swati Maliwal had gone to Arvind Kejriwal's residence to meet him. While she was waiting for him in the drawing room, Baibhav Kumar allegedly misbehaved with her. The CM has taken cognisance of the matter, and he will take appropriate action."
On Monday, Delhi DCP (North) Manoj Meena said, "We received a PCR call at 9:34 AM wherein the caller said that she has been assaulted inside the CM residence. Accordingly, local police responded to the call, and SHO and the local police reached the spot. After some time, MP Swati Maliwal came to the police station civil lines. She left the police station without giving any complaint. In this matter, no complaint has been received till now."
Multiple reports quoted an officer with the operations cell of the Delhi Police said that two calls were received regarding the alleged incident. “In the first call to 100 [emergency response number] made at around 9.40 am, the caller did not mention her name. But in the second call at around 9.54am...the caller told the police that her name is Swati Maliwal and Delhi Chief Minister’s aide Bibhav Kumar is manhandling her."
