The monsoon rains which are a welcome respite from the intense heat have moved into Punjab via Himachal Pradesh. The monsoon is expected to sweep across Punjab in the next two to three days bringing much-needed precipitation. The people of Punjab are getting relief from the oppressive heat thanks to the recent rainfall. In order to prepare the public for the coming days the local department has also released an alert.
Punjab IMD, then a new yellow alert has been issued for June 29th. Along with the rain alert, hot and humid weather has been predicted in Punjab. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 38 degrees Celsius, and the minimum is 28 degrees Celsius.
The southwest monsoon is seen to be very active. Monsoon has not yet covered the Punjab Haryana areas; apart from this, heavy rain has been recorded in Punjab Haryana, Himachal.
Three states have recorded more than 50% of their total rainfall in the past 48 hours. More than 100 mm of rain has fallen in districts of Punjab including Ludhiana Patiala and Mohali.
Haryana which includes Gurugram Faridabad and Ambala has seen a lot of rain in recent days. According to the India Meteorological Department there will be heavy rains in the area over the course of the next 48 hours with some areas expected to experience particularly strong downpours.
